03 Jul July 2 Redfish and bonnethead sharks with Jason and Josh in Tampa Bay
Got out yesterday morning with cousins Jason from Texas and Josh from New York for an inshore trip in lower Tampa Bay. We launched around 9 am during the last of the outgoing tide to a slick calm morning. After a decent paddle we started looking for the schools of redfish I’ve been targeting. Once the tide began coming in, we hit a couple spots with not much to show for, with some storms brewing we made the decision to stay close to the launch which ended up being a good thing.
While standing in my Hobie Revolution I sighted several groups of redfish moving away from me as I poled forward. We hopped out and started fishing and within a few minutes Josh was hooked up to a big over slot fish. We caught several redfish and a nice sized bonnet head shark made an appearance before we decided to call it a day a little after 1.
Here’s some pics of the action…
